Skid and brake control programme

Your driver training course at a glance

What time do we expect you?

We expect you at 8:45 for a packed day’s skid driving course. At lunchtime we take a break for a delicious meal, which is included in the price. We finish around 16:45.

Where do we expect you?

You are expected at the specially equipped JESCO Auto Training Site located on the A12 Antwerp-Brussels at Boom. Skid zones have been set up at the site using an epoxy substrate. We keep these strips wet, which simulates situations that are equivalent to driving three times as fast on public roads. Training at 40 km per hour corresponds to 120 km per hour in reality. Thanks to this unique approach, at JESCO you can train in skid and brake control in complete safety.

What can you expect?

Roadsense

How to stay out of trouble. During brief theory sessions, you learn the principles of road sense: how to avoid dangerous situations. The coaches also show you videos to help you understand why a defensive driving style is important for preventing accidents.

Carsense

How to get out of trouble. Participants get behind the wheel of a recent model Mercedes and learn the correct techniques for avoiding obstacles in emergency situations and for braking hard in a controlled manner. You get the chance to train in different types of cars, ranging from full electric cars to classic front and rear wheel drive vehicles. By practising the new skills you learn intensively and repeatedly, they become automatic reactions. This is necessary so that you can react quickly and appropriately in real-life situations and avoid an accident.

Personal Coaches

We are here for you. We think it’s fantastic that you’re taking the initiative to improve your driving skills, and we want to help you achieve that goal. It doesn’t matter if you lose control on the bend – just learn from it and do better on the next run. We’ll support you proactively with tips and tricks. We’ll do it with a smile and always constructively. You place your trust in us, and in return we gladly place ours in you behind the wheel.

When I started the JESCO skid course (for the fun and the thrill!), I could not have guessed that the experience would eventually save my life! What had particularly stuck with me was the tip: “don’t focus on the approaching danger, but look for a way out.”

Years later, I was in a traffic jam on a motorway and saw a truck approaching way too fast in my rear-view mirror. There was no way the driver would still be able to brake. Remembering “find a way out”, I quickly started my car to flee onto the hard shoulder… That truck still drove into me at the trunk and rear door, but at least I was not squashed between the truck in front of me and the oncoming ten-tonne truck.
I am very grateful to JESCO for furthering my understanding of traffic situations and those few simple but potentially life-saving tips. I would therefore advise every driver to take the JESCO course.

Last weekend, I attended the skid and brake control course at Jesco. What an experience! It was not only great learning, but also super fun! We got lots of practice opportunities and good tips and tricks that helped us in our next attempt. You also drive different types of cars (manual, automatic, normal tyres, slicks…) to gain as much experience as possible. I definitely feel that I can now drive more safely in traffic, starting with a correct seating position, which was of course addressed. Instructor Glenn shared his knowledge and experience and encouraged us to push our limits on the track, always with a smile! He himself also gave an occasional demo, which – thanks to the accompanying explanations – you also learn from. In short, it was a great experience! If I get the chance, I will definitely come back! 😉

It was a great return moment this morning. The practice was teachable moment with very friendly and professional guidance from experienced instructors, with before and after summing up the various factors affecting these tasks and neutralising them. There were interactive tasks that definitely made a me understand how important braking, keeping distance, not being distracted,… could be. Closing with a very interesting group discussion from which I definitely learnt. Here I will definitely come back!

Wonderful experience: in the skid section, you gain important knowledge on how to react in emergency situations and combined with the commentary drive, you also gain insight into your own wrong driving habits. It is a very cool experience and it can literally save lives!
